The customer was a legal publisher and they had a requirement to control documents for publishing in a document repository.
We developed a .NET application with a SQL backend to manage the customer's document content. This provided the capability to assign, check-out, check-in and publish the document content.
The system primarily used Microsoft Word as the editing tool but had disaster recovery built in with edited documents uploaded to the store on save (this has saved the customer losing edited content on more than one occasion)!
To provide a benchmark of how resilient and scalable our systems are; the system was installed live the end of 2006, it has had minor tweaks to enable it to run on Vista, Windows 7 and is only now looking to be updated. How many systems can you say have that level of stability?
